Understand the Different Working Mechanisms of Air Filters
Repercussions will always come to us due to our everyday work. Air pollution is one of the most disturbing problems we have. Air pollutants will be like dust, Fungal spores, viruses, and smoke. Diseases of the respiratory system and destruction of the O-Zone layer are some of the effects of air contamination.
Air filters are devices made to remove contaminants from the air we breathe. The benefits of using air filters are enjoyed largely by people with allergies. Air with pollutants may worsen the health of these people. Factories releasing dust or smoke have air purifiers made for them too. Work in such industries has therefore been made possible and less hazardous.
Air filters have been known to exist since the nineteenth century. Efficiency of the cleaners back then was little. Different working mechanisms have since been incorporated into air filters.Complexity of air filters depends on the target contaminants and the extent of pollution. Discussed below are some of the mechanisms by which these purifiers work.
Considerations, however, have to be put into three things before opting for an air filter. Air filter manufacturers lure their consumers by use of these three things. How much noise is given out by a filter is the first thing. However effective an air filters may be, loud noise is very uncomfortable. Frequency of part replacement is the next thing one considers.Lastly, consider how much power the air filter consumes as it works or on standby.
Filter using heat to clean the air are called thermo air filter.The air passing through them is heated. Before passing out, air contaminants like bacteria, viruses or fungi are killed in the filter. Hot air is not released immediately but released after being cooled.As the air is cooled, dust particles not affected by the heat are settled and therefore do not flow out.
The other type of air cleaners are the Ultraviolet air filters. Ultraviolet rays are found within the air filters.The rays are used to sterilize any foreign material present in the air we breathe. The filter makes air clean by sterilizing the pollutants and making them safe.
We also have another type of air cleaners called the High-Efficiency Particulate Arrestance air filters. They work by use of trapping materials. If air is contaminated with physical contaminants such as dust, this is the ideal filter.Dust, and any physical materials like pollen are trapped within the cleaner. Depending on the amount of contaminants in the air these filters require replacement of parts. An advantage is that it can be used together with the other filters.
Lastly, another common type of air filter is the activated carbon air cleaner. Adsorption is applied by these filters to clean air. Non-solid matter in the air is converted into solid matter. The HEPA air filter can be used together with this air cleaner.
